DoubleDunk is a game, in which you compete with opponents from all the world and lead the virtual basketball club to glory. DoubleDunk is an easy game – it is easy to understand its principles. You can play this game signing up just three or four times per week (we still hope to see You more often here). The main challenge is not to win a game. The main challenge is to compete with other people.
You function both as manager and the club‘s owner. You plan tactics and strategy, decide which people to train and select players, who will appear on the playing-field. You buy and sell the players, invest in the reconstruction and do many other things. We will give an advice: if you wish your team would have played succesfully, form a good strategy and a long-term plan. Success and glory certainly will not come easily.
When you receive the club, it will be in any one of two lowest divisions of Double Dunk league‘s system. At the beginning you have some players (some of them are talented and the other are not), arena and a bit of money. Your mind will determine whether the club will be able to rise at a higher level stairs.
The best thing we can advise : read this game manual. There is no need to read everything at one go. To get started, it will be enough to insight into the first chapters, which should help to understand how the game is being played. It can be added that if you have any questions, you can set them on the forums. There is even a separate forum for the questions.
Each player has 16 DoubleDunk basic skills. However, some other factors may also affect its form. Physical characteristics (height and weight) is important, as well as fatigue can affect players negatively. For each skill, we will explain below.
Two Points - The greater percentage of two pointers, the player scoring more hits. Note: does not mean that a player with a 100% skill he hits 100%. Technical skill.
Three-point - The improved three-point percentage, the more hits a player throws. Note: does not mean that a player with a 100% skill he hits 100%. Technical skill.
Free throws - The better the percentage of fines, the fines more shots player hits. Note: does not mean that a player with a 100% skill he hits 100%. Technical skill.
Stamina - The improved endurance skill, the player needs more rest. Physical skill.
Speed - Faster, much faster player may arrange quick attacks, as well as defense. Physical skill.
Organization - the ability to create and organize attacks, the better the skill, the player can better prepare and organize a more effective attack. The technical skill.
Dribbling - better skill players will avoid the ball is lost or takeovers. Physical skill.
Passes - better skill players will pass the ball from your team of fellow users without errors. Physical skill.
Power - more power to the player, the more likely it is to fight for better rebound the ball, because a better position to deal with the bag. Note: do not forget that sometimes the referees do not always allow a contact to play basketball. Physical skill.
Breakthrough - as the player will be able to exploit gaps in the defense rival club. Improved skill means that the player destroys more rivals defense. Physical skill.
Defense - is a better defense, the player can better take care of their defended the player. Physical skill.
Jump - as a player has a better jump, the more balls can rebound and block shoots. Physical skill.
Motivation - As a player more motivated there is more chanses that he can play better. Motivation depends on how much time a player plays, how much credibility to it. Renewal of contract for the motivation is very important. Technical skill.
Form - best player in the form of variable skill in the game. The better the player's form, the better it will be able to use their skills.Physical skill.
Experience- A player experience is very important to the player's experience depends on how he can use skills to withstand pressure on how strong mentally important plays Technical skill.
Fatigue - Players also need to rest, the players are not always able to cope with a large number of games. Technical skill.
Skills are divided into two types: technical and physical. Physical skill players ages fall, and the technical skills don't going down.
In the game, there are two types of skills to show: a line or text and figures (you can change the type of display settings). At the bottom of the terms used in the present. They are sorted order.

All skills over time, slowly changing. They are improving, some are being trained. However, players age, skill begins to fall. Skills to explain all variations in "Training" section.
Any player can get an injury when he plays games or drills. The possibility that a player will reduce injuries to therapists who are supervised by the players. Injuries period can be anywhere from 0 to end a career. A player can get 89 kinds of injuries, which sorting according to the complexity and frequency. Injuries are two types of complex and mild. The player is easy to injury after the match he could play. In a treatment period you can specify that therapist rehabilitate player, the better the therapist's skills, the greater the probability that a player a speedy recovery. Note: Do not forget that the more players the therapist heals, while decreasing its effectiveness.
When the season ends, elected most valuable player (MVP) in each league is announced, the player who was elected advantageous league MVP. The player has become the MVP, received the award, and the club for the best value player € 5,000.
The players want to improve, that is why they need to train. Once a week you get a report about the training. Trainings lead only coaches-assistants. It can be maximum 4 training programmes. Trainings are divided into two parts: morning and evening. Each training has two settings:
- Training‘s type: indicate what skill to train.
- Intensity: indicate the intensity of training. Do not forget that the higher the intensity is, the faster skills grow, however, chance of injuries as well as players‘ tiredness increase.
When the training has been created, indicate whom of the players to apply the particular training (the list contains only basic composition, junior team‘s players are not shown). If you created the training which is indended to train only juniors, You do not need to indicate any players. The more players a trainer trains, the more his effeciency decreases.
Player‘s skills are divided into two types. One of them is technical skill, the other one is physical. In the course of time players get older, that is why physical skills diminish little by little, though technical skills do not. They just grow little by little, however, the age affects each player. For older players it is more difficult to get a better form than for young players. The following factors affect training very much:
- Player‘s age;
- Trainer‘s skills;
- Trainer‘s efficiency;
- Intensity;
- The number of played games per week;
Each club has its own staff. It can consist of coaches and therapeutists. Maximum 5 coaches and 10 therapeutists can be in your club‘s staff. Certainly, keeping a lot of staff costs much more.
Coaches:
Coaches are divided into two main categories: a head coach and the coaches-assistents. Maximum one head coach must be in the club. A head coach conducts during the races and the coaches-assistents conduct the trainings. Do not forget that you can make a head coach from a coach-assistent, but can not make an assistent from a head coach.
Coache‘s skills:
Defence – a skill that shows how much a coach understands in the defence‘s area. This coache‘s skill helps to improve a player‘s defence. This skill is also used while conducting the races.
Offence – this coaches‘s skill will help the players to gain/improve the offensive arsenal. A coach help to improve shots (two-point, three-point and penalty) and breakthrough. This skill is also used while conducting the races.
Technical knowledges – knowledges that are used to improve technical skills of the players. Such skills as organization, passing, dribbling are being improved.
Physical preparation – knowledges that are used to improve player‘s physical skills. These knowledges will help a coach to improve player‘s physical characteristics, such as form, endurance, speed, force and spring, faster.
Tactical knowledges – these knowledges are used during the races. This skill provides players‘ changing, one-minute brake, shows trainer‘s ability to state player‘s tiredness.
Junior training – these knowledges are used to train juniors. It should be remembered that the better this skill is, the better a trainer will train: will choose his position more exactly and will train only the required skills.
Therapeutists:
Finance – one of the most important factors in the club. Because players must be paid salaries. In the beginning of playing Your club will not have a big budget, as it will be small, will not have a large circle of fans, the investors will not suggest big sums for the advertisiment. But in the course of time the club will take its name as well as promotors and fans.
Main updates take place once a week. Other updates take place immediately after the current events.
Weekly costs. Every week the club has particular costs: the maintenance of arena, salaries for the players, trainers and therapeutists, the maintenance of the junior academy and so on.
Weekly income. The clubs also get income from tickets‘ selling, investors. This income can not be counted, what sum will be got during the current week, because a lot of depends on the promoters‘contract, the number of visitors who came.
Exceptional costs/income. The club also may have an exceptional costs or income. Such as a player‘s buy/ release, arena‘s expansion.
In finance‘s chapter You can see all the information related to finance. On the diagram You will see a table of the last 6 weeks income/costs. And Your last financial events are presented in the report. The financial report of the current season is also presented.
One of the main budget revenue of the club – the club sponsors. Therefore it is very important for Your club to have sponsors. They support the particular number of matches for the clubs. Sponsors allocate money during the official matches only.Yor club can suggest 6 advertisement forms for sponsors . The sum of money depends on the advertisement form. Advertisements are divided into two types: the advertisements of clothing and of arena. You will receive money for an advertisement on arena just when Your club will play on its own arena.
After each match You receive new sponsors‘ suggestions. Do not forget that You can not determine the contracts with old sponsors. Components of the suggestion are presented below:
Deposit, i.e. what sum of money will be allocated for the contract‘s signing. This is onetime payment. It is payed when the contract is being signed.
Base sum. Sponsors allocate this sum after each official match.
Premium for the victory, i.e. if the club wins the match, club sponsors are ready to pay premium for the victory.
If it is being translated on TV. If the match is being translated on TV screens, an advertisement becomes more effective, that is why sponsors pay premiums if their advertisement is shown on the screen.
The number of matches: the number of matches a sponsor will support.
Sponsors, while making suggestions to Your club, pay an attention on various facts:
- The size, an attendance of Your club‘s arena;
- In which lygue the club plays;
- If the club plays in the Cup, if it is so, in which stage it does;
At the beginning of the club‘s existence You will receive a little arena, which can be expanded/reduced. On the page „Arena“ you can see arena‘s details and manage it.
There are three types of different places. From each of them You receive different income and pay different weekly maintenance‘s costs (that are must be paid).
Host team‘s manager can see the number of tickets sold on the particular places‘ types. An income for tickets are being distributed to the meeting teams differently, everything depends on the match‘s type:
The leagues match: all money for the tickets sold go to the host team;
The Cup‘s Match: hosts receive 2/3 of income for the match, guests – 1/3;
The friendly match: an income is being divided two ways.
The number of people who will come to support the club on arena mostly depends on the place in the group taken, the difference between an opponent and Your place in the group taken (only in the league‘s match), Your club‘s and an opponent‘s ratings. The better the opponent‘s raitings are, the more watchers become interested in them.
The opponents‘ fans have some influence, too. Maybe they will want to support their club in the guest country. It is worth to know that the number of watchers who come on arena will grow with the end of the season. Usually a bigger crowd will support the club at the end of the season than at the beginning.
The construction company should be employed for arena‘s reconstruction. The construction may take a week or more, depending on the volume of work. All the current places can be used during the matches and reconstruction. Choose what You want to build, then press the buttom "Receive a suggestion". When this button has been pressed, the construction company will inform You, how much Your planned construction will cost and when it will be completed. If You are satisfied with the construction estimate and terms, press the buttom "Build". If not, just get away from this page and everything will leave as it was. Please note that You construction will never be completed on the weekend. If it is written in the suggestion that the construction should be completed on the weekend, it means that You will be able to use Your new arena only on following Monday. Sometimes arena‘s construction may delay, the construction company can not always fulfill the project‘s plan on time. The larger arena‘s reconstruction You are making, the more is a chance that arena‘s project‘s plans may delay. You will see an old arena‘s reconstruction date. It is important to remember that while expanding arena You will expand it in the certain intervals. If You will expand the tribune, the number You have entered will be *100 and if You will expand the other type of place, it will be *10.
Ideally, if You would be able to suggest for coming watchers several types of places. Most fans will want to buy tickets on the tribune, that is why You should look that the tribunes would have taken the main part of the club‘s arena. Some people agree to come to watch the match on arena only if there are seats, that is why You should try to satisfy and these fans. Elite or so-called cream of society wish to have comfortable places in VIP lodges. There are no many such people, but such lodges still should be equipped.
During each match the club has to use game‘s tactics. Each tactics has its iwn advantages and disadvantages, that is why we recommend to choose them carefully. In the chapter “Tactics“ You may create, edit or delete tactics. They may be edited at any time, except for at least 30 minutes before the match. For each match You can shoose the tactics individually (indicating on the match‘s page which tactics to use) or can always use standard tactics (in the chapter tactics you should mark it as standard).
When the tactics name has been written, You can begin to create it. Firstly You ought to indicate the players who will play in the match. It can be no more than 12 players, but not less than 8. If the number of players is not enough, Your club will get a technical loss. In such case the result will be 0:-20. You should assign the players at the particular positions by your own. 10 players should be at the binding positions (2 players at each position, i.e. one player at the start position and second – for the change). You can choose positions for 11-12 players. The skills required for each position are indicated below.
• PG - Two-points, Three-points, Passing, Speed
• SG - Two-points, Three-points, Speed
• C - Two-points, Defence, Jumping, Strong
• PF - Two-points, Defence, Strong
• SF - Defence, Organization, Speed
Note: do not forget that there are initial skills required for the particular position only. During the match almost all player‘s skils are being used.
If You want to make a tactics the main, You should put a tick on the box „the main tactics“ (main tactics can be the only one).
The following stage – designate the instructions for players and choose the main tactics‘ settings.
Game‘s style:
- Defensive. Advantages: the players do not tire so fast, all players are tried to be used during the offence. Disadvantages: less number of the attacks is created, the game becomes slower, is not so effective.
-Normal. Advantages: the players do not tire so fast, several or all players are being used during the defence. Disadvantages: it is easier for the opponents to create fast attacks.
- An attacking. Advantages: the effective game, more fast attacks are being created. Disadvantages: the players tire faster, not all players participate in the attacks.
Zone 2-3. Advantages: the better fight for the bounced ball, it is harder for the opponents to break through the penalty box, an opponent requires more energy. Disadvantages: almost all three-point zone is free.
Zone 1-3-1. Advantages: protects front three-point line, requires more energy, less fouls are being collected. Disadvantages: opens side three-point line, free a path to the basket, it is harder to compete for the bounced ball.
Zone 3-2. Advantages: a good fight for the bounced ball, harder to attack lay-up, requires more energy from the opponents. Disadvantages: three-point line is left free, easier to attack from the middle distance.
Personal – each player marks his position‘s player. Advantages: the players mark the players better, a better chance to defend from the three-point. Disadvantages: more difficult to defend when the opponent players are faster, the favourable opportunities for lay-up attack are being made, more fouls are being collected, less energy is being required from the attacking team.
Normal – average minded players who do not consider the match very important, but can not lose. Advantages: the players try to win the match, the players compete, try to take more comfortable position for the bounced ball. Disadvantages: the number of penalties increases, more time is needed to recover after the match.
When being relaxed – the players fight being relaxed, that is why they are more passive during the match. Advantages: possibility of injuries decreases, the players get penalties not so fast. Disadvantages: the players try less for the each ball, that is why the fight for the bounced balls becomes worse, the number of balls taken over decreases.
Die or win – the players fight at full stretch. Advantages: a fight for the bounced balls improves, more balls are being taken over. Disadvantages: injuries increase, the players get penalties faster.
Now You should specify individual settings for each player:
Tiredness. Information is indicated in percents (0-100%). When a player becomes so tired, another player changes him. The players are being changed in the following order: the main player, a spare player, another spare player (if he is). If all players are tired, they are being taken again in the indicated sequence. If there are no this position‘s players because of the injuries or fauls, the next position‘s player is being taken.
Responsibility indicates which responsibility a player will assume. The sum of all players‘, who are on the playground, responsibilities is being added and influences who will end the attack. Note: indicated 0 does not mean that this player will never attack and throw the ball into the basket, because each game‘s attack is being calculated and there are some situations in the basketball that it is just impossible not to throw.
One of the ways to strengthen the club – to hire/or buy a player. You can find two types of players on exchange (on the market): the free agents and the players for sale.
The free agents – the players who have no contracts with any club. If You wish to hire the free agents, You must go to the market‘s page and indicate in the search looking for the free agents only. After finding a player You like You have to propose him a new contract (more information about contract‘s properties read in the chapter „Contracts“). After receiving the proposal a player has to consider Your‘s and the other clubs‘ proposals (if You have submitted the first proposal for a player, he will decide within 3 days, if You were not the first, a player will decide till the particular term). Contract for a player can be sent only once. Remember that when the term will expire, You will not be able to submit Your proposal. You negotiate with a player privately and do not see the other clubs‘ proposals (if there are any). A player informs by a private message about his decision.
The players for sale- the players who have a valid contract with the club.Buying a player You posess an older‘s club concluded contract. To look for the players sold, go to the market‘s page and specify that You are looking for the players for sale only. Differently from the free agents‘hiring, while buying a player You always will see the biggest sum that was proposed. When a suitable player was found, suggest him Your price, though it must exceed the best offer at least 850 euros. Do not forget that a player stays on the market only for a certain period of time (72 hours), during this time all other clubs can offer for a player more money. If You will offer the sum for a player over the last 5 minutes, this period will be extended for another 5 minutes, during which the other clubs can submit their proposals and the time will be extended until it will be no proposals (while the free agents do not extend the term).
If You want to sell a player, go to the player‘s page and press „buy a player“ (you can not sell a player, if he has a new contract with the club already, is being included into the junior team or has not stayed more than 4 weeks in the club.) Selling a player, do not forget that a market‘s tax should be paid, i.e. 15 % will be taken for the player‘s sale, though these taxe‘s sum must be not less than 2000 euros, regardless if this player will be sold or not (i.e. the market‘s tax still must be paid ). A player can be sold within 3 days, i.e. 72 hours. A player will be sold to the club which will propose the biggest sum.
Your club also may have the junior team, in which You can grow Your club‘s future stars. You should go to the junior team‘s section where You will be able to choose the number of juniors You want to keep in Your junior team. Junior team‘s creation price is calculated by the following formula: number of players * 1570.
You can choose from 1 to 10 juniors who will be kept in Your training camps. Every 4 week You can redistribute junior team‘s fund. Every week You can invite one junior in Your junior team. You can invite junior from 16-18 years. You will not be able to invite junior when Your junior team will be full or when the club will have less than 5 000 euros fund. An invited junior will be delivered to Your junior team.
Number of divisions in the different leagues may vary, but the structure itself is the same everywhere. Leagues‘systems in other countries are made the same, only their names can be different and they may consist of less divisions. A season always lasts 12 weeks, during which 14 league‘s tours take place, i.e. the play-off match takes place during 3 weeks, followed by 2-weeks brake.
8 teams match in each group. They play with each other twice (total 14 tours). When a regular season is over, the clubs play the play-off matches. It lasts 3 weeks. Clubs are being divided into the groups in the following way: 1 - 4, 2 - 3 , 5 - 8 and 6 - 7. 1,2,5,6 play on their home arena.
The no more eligible to compete for the right to become a champion if it takes 5-th or lower place. The clubs will play with each other in 3 matches. After the clubs who won will meet with each other, and these who lost – with each other. The club which took 1 place will qualify for the higher division and the clubs which took 6,7,8 places will fall in the lower divisions.

When the match is over, You will receive a premium. Premium size depends on the place You have taken and the division You played in
1 division - 300 000, 250 000, 200 000, 180 000, 160 000, 140 000, 120 000, 100 000;
2 division - 220 000 , 180 000, 140 000, 120 000, 100 000 , 80 000, 60 000, 40 000;
3 division - 150 000, 85 000, 76 000, 67 000, 58 000, 49 000, 40 000 , 31 000;
4 division - 110 000, 60 000, 54 000, 48 000, 42 000, 36 000, 30 000, 24 000;
5 division - 95 000, 54 000, 48 000, 43 000, 38 000, 33 000, 28 000, 23 000;
All other devisions receive the same fund as 5 division.
To win the Cup – not only big glory for the team and the greatest happiness for its fans, but also a perfect way to earn more money additionaly. As we know, a huge amount of money are „stored up“by the watchers, that is why several-stage Cup passing during the match is the biggest success, especially if You play in the lower division.
Unfortunately, not all teams can participate in the Cup, because the National Cup takes place only in these leagues where is at least 968 clubs (for example, if 968 teams play in the league, only 512 of them will play in the Cup). Clubs are being selected into the Cup by the national rating.
The Cups‘s match is played in the middle of the week (on Thursday). You will find an exact time on Your National Cup‘s page.
You get to know Your opponent before a week and the second stage‘s opponents appear shortly after all matches played during the current stage. The most ratinged teams will always play with less ratinged teams. Ratings depend on the last 5 season‘s results.
Hosts receive two-thirds of income for the sold tickets. The remainder goes to the guests‘ team. Usuallyu fans are not very interested in the Cup during the first stages, but later they become more and more interested. These are right who say that the lower division team‘s fans would rather go to watch the match with the higher division‘s team, but not vice versa.
If you did not play in the National Cup, the only one way to use trainings at most is to organise the match of the trainings‘nature.
During the friendly matches the clubs usually allow the spare players to play allowing them to train by this. During the friendly matches it is also useful to try different references or to improve the experience of the formation. O maybe you want to come to grips with your best friend for the honour? If you will drop out from the national CUP, may organise the friendly matches with the clubs which did not plan the matches in the middle of the week (these clubs also should not play in the National Cup). All Your invitations are shown in the "Invitations“chapter. When playing in the friendly match is planned, all this appears in the schedule. You choose your opponent from the list of the teams who sent invitations for You. You can play the friendly matches abroad or invite foreigners on Your arena. If You play abroad, the match takes place at the local time.
The income for the tickets sold during the friendly matches is much lower than the income during the official match. Most fans are being attracted on the arena by the national friendly matches.
Two clubs and their players participate in the match. The match can be watched „directly“ (during the races click on the caption LIVE). After the game you can review statistics and description of the match. Without statistics of the match, You also can find out the additional information, for ex.,: the number of viewers who watched it, the name of most valued players and so on.
A lot of factors influence the result of the match, but the most important are these:
- available players;
- tactics of the match chosen;
- also a head coach;
- a bit of luck;
- players‘morality, form and other.
You can see the result of the match after it will be finished. Start time of the match is shown in the schedule while the match lasts about 1,5 hours (the match may take longer because of the different factors: extensions, one-minute brakes and so on).
At least 8 players should be registered for the races, otherwise a technical loss and final result (0:-20) will be written.
Moreover, it will not be possible to set/edit tactics less than 30 minutes before the races start. If you did not set the tactics, the main tactics will be selected automatically, if it was set.
Each player, coach or therapeutist has signed a contract with the club. Contract consists of the following parts:
- Duration, i.e. the duration of a contract can last from 1 to 5 seasons;
- Salary, i.e. each week a player gets salary, which depends on the sum indicated in a contract (for ex.., 1000 € per week);
- Termination, i.e. if the club wants to terminate a contract with a player, coach or therapeutist, they are paid 40% of the total contract value that is being counted by the following formula: 12 weeks – (minus) the number of weeks have passed (till the current week) + the number of other seasons multiplied by 12 and multiplied by 100 and divided by 40%;
A contract with a player, coach or therapeutist can be extended only in the last season.
Because each player has different personal characteristics, they influence making a contract, for ex., one player makes a contract having in mind salary’s rate, and the other one –achievements, popularity of the club and so on.
While extending a contract the players also take into account the motivation in the club, i.e. little „spent“on the playing-field and so on. It is especially difficult to keep players-stars. Furthermore, do not forget that each coach, player or therapeutist makes a career till the certain age, it determines many factors.
